Fact-Checking Policy
How we verify what we publish and how we handle corrections.
Last updated: 1 January 2026
Our commitment
Accuracy is the foundation of reader trust. We apply a consistent fact-checking process to every guide, article, and tool we publish.
Before publication
Every specific factual claim in a guide is traced back to a source before the guide is published. We prefer peer-reviewed literature, systematic reviews, and guidance from established health bodies. Claims that cannot be verified against a credible source are removed or rephrased as general knowledge with appropriate hedging language.
Writers submit internal source notes alongside drafts. A second editorial reviewer checks that all key claims can be traced to the cited or noted sources before approving publication.
After publication
Science evolves. We schedule periodic reviews of high-traffic guides to ensure they remain accurate. When new evidence materially changes the consensus on a topic, we update the relevant content and revise the “last updated” date.
How we handle errors
If we publish an error, we correct it promptly. Our process:
- We receive a report of a potential error via our contact form or internal review.
- The editorial team assesses the report against the original sources within 5 working days.
- If an error is confirmed, we update the content immediately.
- For material errors, we add a brief correction note at the bottom of the affected page noting what was changed and when.
- We thank readers who report genuine errors.
What we do not do
- We do not remove correction notes from published pages.
- We do not alter content at the request of commercial or external parties to make it more favourable to their interests.
- We do not publish claims we cannot trace to a credible source, even if they are widely repeated.
Report an error
If you believe something on this site is inaccurate, please contact us with the page URL, the claim you believe is incorrect, and any evidence you can share. We genuinely appreciate it.
